We are Aura Australia, an ethically sourced, cruelty free, vegan friendly and Australian owned company dedicated to ensuring everyone feels good in the skin they’re in.

Our journey started in 2020 when like most, our world was turned upside down by COVID-19. We were shut down and my regular trips to the salon to get a spray tan were a thing of the past. I decided to buy a HVLP spray tan machine and solution and do my own tan. Looking at the ingredients was when I realised how nasty some of the ingredients were that I was applying to my skin every week. As someone who values their health, I wanted to find alternative products that provided me with awesome results but less nasty chemicals.

As mandates increased and my husband suffered a health scare, I was at rock bottom. I took leave without pay at my corporate job and decided I wanted to turn this passion into a business. I went all-in to source the best natural and organic ingredients where possible to make our customers look and feel their best. I spent 12 months trailing products and I left my corporate job and took a leap of faith wanting to fulfil a purpose to help men and women feel good in the skin they’re in and create a tanning solution for the holistic consumer/ therapist who prides themselves on quality and is looking for a premium natural tanning solution that delivers the best results on the market.

DHA stands for dihydroxyacetone – the active ingredient in most self-tanning products. A sugar derived active produced by a natural fermentation process, DHA reacts with amino on the surface layer of the skin. The level of DHA controls how dark and natural the colour looks.

It is best to tan 2 days prior to your event. If your event is on the Saturday, we advise tanning two days prior, it’s not called Tan Thursday for nothing! Your tan will continue to develop once you wash it off with both our self tanning foam and professional tanning solutions.

Wax/Shave & exfoliate 24-48 hours prior to getting your tan, exfoliating or waxing on the day of your tan can cause the tan to seep into your pores and produce dark dots. It can also irritate your skin, especially if it's sensitive.

Ensure you are freshly showered with all soap residue removed from your body. And your skin in clean, free from perfume, lotion, deodorant and makeup.

If you are to apply moisturiser, apply a small amount to your knees, elbows, hands and feet. Moisturiser acts as a barrier and will prevent the tan from darkening in those areas. Any perfume or deodorant left on the skin can cause the tan to discolour, so it's super important to have it removed properly!

Wear loose clothing to your appointment

With good preparation and moisturising regularly, your tan should last you between 5-7 days, tan extender can also be used if you have two weekends in a row with events and need your tan to last the extra mile!

Remember hydration is key to healthy skin and to increase the longevity of your glow.

Ensure you moisturise after every shower to keep the skin soft and hydrated. This will make your tan last longer and fade evenly.

No, we stand against animal testing and have ensured that all of our products are PETA approved meaning they are cruelty free and 100% Vegan friendly

While the DHA in the tanning formulation typically only affects the top layer of the skin and should not be harmful while pregnant, we always recommend consulting your doctor with any health-related concerns

While self-tanning is a great alternative to the harmful effects of suntanning, Aura Australia tanning products themselves will not protect your skin from the sun.
